Motown

We went to a Motown musical it was a great show and I learned a lot. The music was started by one man who worked hard every day because he was poor. His name was Barry Gordy.

How it all started was he went to his family because he needed some money. He asked them for $1,000 from his family’s savings account. They said “you can only use it in an emergency, and this is not an emergency, so you cannot have the money.” He did not give up, and he kept pushing. At the end, they gave him $800. That was enough to buy the house they wanted to create a recording studio. He called it Motown. Most of the famous artists you hear were part of Motown . Some of them are:

The Jackson 5.

Martha and the Vandellas.

Marvin Gaye.

Mary Wells.

Smokey Robinson.

Stevie Wonder.

You probably recognized some of their names. My favorite is Smokey Robinson.
