Code Talkers

Code talkers is a book about a Navajo boy who wants to join the Marines. However, but he is not allowed to join because he speaks Navajo. He goes to a school where they tell him speaking Navajo is wrong and that they should only speak English. After a couple years the military finally start accepting Navajos. This is because World War II has broken out and the Marines needed the Navajos to speak their language as a code so even if the enemy’s intercepts their war plans and messages, they would not be able to understand it. The Navajos played a very important part in the war and at the end helped the Americans win. This book is sad in the beginning but happy in the end. I like this book because it is in the perspective of the boy and not in the perspective of anyone else. I recommend this book to anyone who likes real stories and likes history.
