Life through the eyes of a Goan Beach dog
Right when I wake up, I tiptoe across the beach to get to the shack first. That is where the tourists give us food. It is such a big deal to get food because we only get two meals a day. After we eat, we find some entertainment. This is not that hard because we are on the beach. We always do the same thing. Sometimes there is a stick on the beach. If we are lucky enough to find one, then we sit down and try to break it in every way we can. First, we paw it and then we bite it and if none of those work, we just leave.
We are stray dogs, so we do not get walks like trained dogs. So, when we see people on the beach running, we chase after them. I never knew people could run that fast. When we finish playing it is close to dusk or a little before and we head to the shacks for the last meal of the day. When we finish, we all rush to get the best sleeping spots. You may be wondering where those are, well the best spots are under the sun beds that tourists lie on right outside the shacks. No rain there! However, we are not that lucky. The shack owners sometimes chase us away Then we either dig a hole and sleep in the sand or if one of my friends is feeling nice and has found a spot, we share a spot under the sun bed. We drift off to sleep and in the morning the day starts again.
I have read all your posts and this one is my FAVORITE and probably the BEST!
Sincerely,
Anusha
